zevs

The influential Parisian street artist Zevs (who hit the news recently for a high profile arrest in Hong Kong) continues his subversive ‘disturbances’ of logos and trademarks with perhaps the most ubiquitous global brand. With his personal website mimicking not only the search engine’s UI, Zevs adds his own personal ‘dripping’ modifications to the famous logo. Brutally simple, yet wholly (in)appropriate.

Bruce Branit, owner of Branit VFX studio has created an award-winning short film with insights into how augmented reality and holographic technology could shape our lives.

Shot in a single day, the film took over 2 years of post production before completion. As well as being technically, artistically, and creatively brilliant, the short also manages to show an achingly tender human side.

sartorialist

With a great disparity between fashion he saw in the real world, and those of everyday people in the street, Scott Schuman one day decided to document those he simply thought were, as coolography would say, a good look. Fast forward a few years and the former fashion marketer turned self taught photographer found himself running one of the world’s most famous fashion blogs. As well as “turning photo blogging into an art form”, Schuman was also named recently as one of Time magazine’s top 100 design influencers.

Now, after over four years and countless photographs, Schuman has compiled an anthology of his most favoured shots from around the world; the wide range of sartorial subjects spans from London to Rio, Paris to Milan, and of course, New York.

Available in paperback and a luxurious, limited edition hardback edition, The Sartorialist is a must for any style junkie’s coffee table.

On a recent coolography expedition to New York, the sheer depth and breadth of culinary options left us daunted. Much like London, New York is a premier international destination with a wide multicultural heritage, and as a result, every taste, whim, and adventurous craving can be satisfied with ease. From the humblest street vendor to the most awarded establishment, we wanted to taste it all. With time unfortunately not on our side, we made it a point to sample the very best New York had to offer.

Looking no further than the Michelin guide, the revered culinary bible, we shortlisted the four New York restaurants blessed with 3 stars – the highest accolade possible. Though famed establishments such as Le Benardin, Per Se, and newcomer Masa all have their own merits, we could not ignore Jean-Georges – the eponymous flagship of celebrated chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. With 12 Michelin stars and countless other awards under his belt, it struck coolography that this man, with a near villainous name, knew a certain something about diabolically good food.

With no reservations, we made reservations, and prepared ourselves for a meal at one of the best restaurants in the world… continue reading »

After a brief relocation to a pop up store in the absurdly cool Dover Street Market, Bape London has now returned to its original location in Soho’s Upper James Street. Having once been the epitome of hype culture in the streetwear boom some years ago, we decided to pay a visit on opening day to see if a rejuvenated store can breathe some life back in to a brand many cynics have proclaimed to be ‘dead’ for some time… continue reading »
