The Nike 1948 store, located in the arches of Bateman’s Row, Shoreditch, recently underwent a small makeover by Finnish artist Kustaa Saksi. With a vivid, retro pop aesthetic, the installation perfectly represents the blend of modern heritage so closely associated with the Nike Sportswear brand. Amongst Python-esque appendages rising above multicolour cityscapes and VW vans on cardboard cutout vacation, we particular admire Saksi’s illustrative takes on the differences between men’s and women’s footwear needs. continue reading »

Continuing the trend of high end designers collaborating with high street fashion, and following on from their own Designer’s Invitation projects, Uniqlo have released the first few teaser images of their new autumn collection with famed German minimalist designer Jil Sander. Though founder of the eponymous fashion house, Jil Sander has been completely uninvolved in its operations since 2004, instead withdrawing from the fashion world until earlier this year where she announced the formation of her own fashion consultancy. qlocktwo

Posted on: 23 August 2009

qlocktwoWith an increasing reliance on portable devices and desktop computers for our timekeeping, the humble wall clock rarely seems to have a use other than a quaint decoration. Fine by coolography, as long as designers come up with simple and stunning ways to convey time like this. Enter the qlocktwo, by Biegert & Funk Design. Handmade in Germany, the clock contains row upon row of nonsense lettering on a simple acrylic glass square, that illuminates to display the time in written format. Updating automatically (via a DCF-77 time-signal receiver), the clock updates every five minutes, with subtle corner spot detailing keeping track of the minutes between intervals. Available in multiple colours, as well as multiple languages, the qlocktwo is a stunning example of at a glance timekeeping.

As the UK’s most eminent and respected institution in all things sneaker related, Crooked Tongues are perennially on coolography’s radar, whether for their jaw dropping trainer collaborations, the ’show love and drop knowledge’ ethos of their forums, or for, as you shall soon see, their legendary annual BBQs . Following 2007’s brief foreign exchange in Bangkok, Thailand, and a sadly cancelled edition in Munich last year, the Crooked Tongues BBQ was coming back in style for their home base in London town. Whilst our attendance was guaranteed come rain or shine, promises of free BBQ, alcohol, music, and a crowd consisting of the most devoted sneakerheads meant our RSVP made its way to crooked towers with breakneck speed. Blessed with a sunny day, coolography rocked on down to shoreditch, ready to eat meat with heat on our feet… continue reading »

coolography loves its colours, as you may have noticed from our colour coded categories on the site. We love our colouring pencils even more; from childhood Crayola colourers to connoisseurs of Daran D’ache, we have always loved the immediate tactility and versatility of such a huge palette. So understandably, the Felissimo Design House got us pretty excited indeed, when we received word of their new 500 pencil project. continue reading »
