Sony’s digital compact cameras are without a doubt some of the most stylish, and though we loathe to use the word, sexiest, around. The T series, in particular, is coolography’s favoured range, having gone through several lifetimes worth of use from the T1, the T9 and coolography’s current model du jour, the T700. When not used to help adorn the odd coolography article, the camera is an indispensable tool for social occasions, frequently documenting all minor and major events. For those who often find themselves as photographer, yet lack appearances of their own in photo albums, however, Sony’s new Party Shot may have a solution…

Unveiled this week, and at first glance a simple camera dock, the Sony IPT-DS1 Party Shot is actually an automatic photographer, swiveling 360° with a 24° level of inclination to automatically and intelligently capture every wayward party moment. Utilising the remarkably effective BIONZ face and smile detection system, the Party Shot is mountable on any tripod as well as being battery powered and highly portable – a combination that is a gimmicky, let disturbingly cool way to document the night.

Although obviously no real replacement for a designated photographer, coolography is curious indeed as to how shots with this could turn out. Compatible initially only with Sony models DSC-WX1 and DSC-TX1 the Party Shot will be available to creepily document your parties come this September.
