Les Queues de Sardines

Posted on: 17 February 2010

Les Queues de Sardines, the rather abstractly named offshoot of m + o studio, has been on our radar for a while; their funky and original styles are a perfect complement to any (admittedly outgoing) personality. Where normal patterned tights offer some degree of expression – these screen printed designs take tights and stockings to another level. With styles running the gamut from elegant to humourous to straight shocking – its guaranteed you’ll be noticed in any one of the designs, which are, of course, produced strictly in limited quantities. With a new collection for Spring/Summer 2010 online, we take a look at our favourite pieces… continue reading »

Masamichi Katayama’s legendary interior design firm Wonderwall has recently updated their website. Working with flash interaction master Yugo Nakamura, and his company Tha Ltd, the result is an aptly literal, wall of wonder. Moving through the site the Wonderwall portfolio pieces jump out in geometrically resizing bubbles, in a uniquely mesmerising way. Drilling down further into the site you can also find an equally cool slideshow mechanic, which, along with the top level navigation, still play second fiddle to Wonderwall’s amazing interior design work. Though mostly Japan based – you may see some familiar work for stores in cities such as New York, London, and Paris continue reading »

10/GUI multitouch system

Posted on: 14 October 2009

coolography recently stumbled across this video, outlining a revolutionary new concept for a true multi-touch user interface system. Named 10/GUI, the system approaches the use of multitouch technology from the ground up, presenting a truly innovative way to communicate with your computer. Proposed by designer R. Clayton Miller, the 10/GUI system utilises the full range of 10 fingers on a dedicated trackpad area, allowing for fluid, flexible and intuitive information manipulation that is unavailable to us with the simple point-and-click nature of the humble mouse.

Take the time to watch the video – it is a likely glimpse in to how we will all be using computers in the near future.

Born and bred, loud and proud – are we Londoners at coolography. So over the past years we have been achingly anticipating the arrival of the venerable Olympiad to our hometown. Amidst governmental mismanagement, fears of wasted local investment, and a sliding economy, nothing has stoked the ire of the normally chill coolography than the controversial unveiling of the official London 2012 branding. Despite hefty public opposition, the Wolff-Ollins designed mark seems to be here to stay.

So with lamentations of what could have been (and possibly, what could be) coolography came across these poster proposals for the upcoming games. Designer Alan Clarke has come up with a selection of concepts designed with “the movement and energy of the games, in a simple abstract way” in mind. Beautifully simple, coolography would love to see these peppered around the city in upcoming years. continue reading »

One of the most beautifully elegant user interfaces coolography has seen in a long time: The website for Diller Scofido + Renfro. Designed by Pentagram’s Lisa Strausfeld, the design takes and refines the oft abused 3D landscape technique to project the New York based architecture firm’s past projects on an easily navigable plane…
